Distribution of Chinese jewelry manufacturers.

If by “distribution” you mean the geographic distribution of jewelry manufacturers in China, the industry is highly concentrated in a few major clusters rather than evenly spread across the country.

China’s jewelry industry association currently identifies 34 established jewelry-industry clusters across the country. It classifies places such as Shenzhen Luohu, Guangzhou Panyu, Shunde and Shanwei/Haifeng as manufacturing-oriented clusters, while Yiwu/Zhejiang is particularly important for fashion accessories and Zhuji for pearls.

1. Guangdong — the dominant manufacturing region

Guangdong is the most important area to investigate if you’re looking for factories.

The Shenzhen–Guangzhou–Shanwei corridor contains a particularly dense supply chain:

  • Shenzhen/Shuibei: strongest for gold jewelry, diamonds, platinum, K-gold and higher-value manufacturing. Shenzhen’s jewelry industry is extremely concentrated; academic research identified more than 26,000 jewelry enterprises in the city in its study of the sector.
  • Guangzhou/Panyu: one of China’s major jewelry manufacturing and export-processing centers, with strong capabilities in casting, setting, polishing and OEM/ODM.
  • Shanwei/Haifeng: particularly important for silver and fashion jewelry manufacturing.

The China Jewelry & Jade Industry Association explicitly identifies Shenzhen Luohu and Guangzhou Panyu as major processing/manufacturing clusters, particularly for precious-metal jewelry, diamond cutting and related supporting industries.

2. Zhejiang — fashion jewelry and pearls

Yiwu is the major center for inexpensive fashion jewelry, costume jewelry, beads and accessories. It is especially attractive if you need:

  • Low MOQs
  • Many styles
  • Fast product turnover
  • Private-label fashion jewelry
  • E-commerce products

Zhuji, meanwhile, is China’s major freshwater-pearl cluster and is much more specialized in pearl production and pearl jewelry.

3. Guangxi — gemstone supply chain

Wuzhou is particularly important for synthetic/CZ stones and gemstone processing. This makes it relevant not only for finished jewelry factories but also for sourcing components for manufacturers elsewhere in China.

4. Other important clusters

China’s national jewelry association also identifies specialized clusters in Fujian, Jiangsu, Shandong, Yunnan, Henan, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia and elsewhere. These include jade, crystal, turquoise, agate, pearls, colored stones and regional jewelry manufacturing.

A practical sourcing map

If you’re trying to find Chinese jewelry factories, I’d divide China like this:

Fine jewelry / gold / diamonds → Shenzhen + Panyu

925 silver / OEM jewelry → Shenzhen + Panyu + Shanwei

Fashion / costume jewelry → Yiwu + Guangzhou + Dongguan

Stainless-steel jewelry → Dongguan + Guangdong

CZ / synthetic stones → Wuzhou

Pearls → Zhuji

Jade → Sihui + Pingzhou

Crystal → Donghai

So, for most international buyers, the first two places to investigate are Shenzhen and Guangzhou/Panyu. The industry association and other industry sources consistently identify Guangdong as the country’s core manufacturing ecosystem.

If you tell me what type of jewelry you manufacture/source (gold, silver, stainless steel, fashion, diamonds, lab-grown, pearls, etc.) and your approximate annual purchase volume, I can also give you a city-by-city map of the best Chinese manufacturing clusters and the typical factory size/MOQ/price level in each.
